My Highlands Home Art Prize 2018 was held recently, judged by celebrated artist Helen Gauchet.

‘Shanti Ghar’ by local artist Judith Weeks was the overall winner. Isn’t it stunning?

Award Event Night

The My Highlands Home art prize was a huge success, receiving over 90 entries. This is an incredible result for a an inaugural art prize.

The winning painting was donated as part of a silent auction, which raised money for Buy a Bale. This not-for-profit aid organisation helps struggling Australian farmers and their animals.

Another entry, ‘One Day at a Time’ by Graham Sinclair, sold on the night for $600. Graham also kindly donated 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale to Buy a Bale. So, in total we raised $2100 for the charity.

My office window space will display the pieces for the community to admire for some time.

Buy a Bale allows you to choose how your money is spent and indeed, where it is sent. So, I divided the cash into buying bales, a tanker of water and hampers for the farmers. I nominated the central west of NSW.

For all the budding or established artists out there, be sure to look out for this amazing art prize – same time, next year.

Love, Di xx
